A Day in the Life
One night when I worked the night shift from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am something so unusual happened. There was just three of us on duty that night. We always made rounds together. That way we knew something about all the patients. Now you have to set your mind to this and picture what happened. We used flashlights to make rounds and sometimes the pale light from the hall helped us to see. One of the nurses went over to the bed to check the patient's surgical dressing that he had on his back. She carefully pulled up the sheet so as not to awaken the patient. Just as she bent over to shine the light on his dressing, he broke wind that was very loud and her hair blew back with the force of the fart. The other nurse and I had to leave the room to keep from waking the patient up. We laughed as silently as we could. The nurse who got the wind in her hair did not think it was so funny at first. But you should have seen her face and gentle breeze that sent her hair flying. Learned something that night, Farts do have a powerful wind behind them.
