howl
On working the night shift or graveyard shift, you encounter some strange things. One year for a few weeks the north end of the wing I worked on was closed due to the census being down. ( number of patients hospital wide). At times we could hear an eerie sound of howling at the far end of the hall at the north end. It kept coming and going for almost an hout. We called security and reported it.

One of the security guards came to investigate. He could hear it too. He wanted one of us to go with him to see what was going on. Coward. Of course you know who had to go with him. We went through each empty room, with me going in first. Nothing! We came to the back stairwell. The sound was louder there. Opening the door to the stairs the sound was plain.

Slowly we went down the stairs until we reached the basement. There we found that someone had left the stair door propped open and a window to the outside was left open and little bit. The wind and and the staircase created a suction and the howling. Mystery solved but I found out that our security was not cracked up to what they were supposed to be.

Cowards.
