Relationships with docs and nurses are not what you think they are. Some docs are sweet and loving. Others are decendents of the devil himself. You call a doc about a patient and get an oral hemorrhoidectomy. They can swear worse than a sailor and talk down to you. Other docs thank you for your concern.

Nurses take care of the patients 24/7 and the doc sees them 2 minutes on rounds and charge the patient an arm and a leg for the priviledge. I have worked with all kinds of docs. Some think that they are God and have told their patients so. Some throw fits that make them look like spoiled brats. I had one doctor throw a patient's chart clear across the hall and hit the opposite wall. Pages flying everywhere. Who picks up the pages and puts the chart back together, nurses.

Some talk to their patients so far above their heads that they don't have the slightest idea what is going on with them. They talk and belittle nurses in front of patients and families. Call us stupid but yet trusts us to care for their patients. They show little or no respect for the nurses.

Other doctors praise the nurses and tell them that they don't know what to do with out them.

I know which doctors I would let treat my family and my cat. Some I would not let them treat a rat. There are those whose nose is so far up in the air that they would drown if they were standing in the rain. They write orders in a script that no one could read and get mad if their orders are questioned. Some thank you for correcting them. The list is endless and believe it or not, the proud, uppity docs out number the sweet and pleasant ones.

One doc yelled and belittled his nurses in the hospital all the time. Well one day he had a stroke and had to be humbled to the level of a patient. I got the unpleasant chore of taking care of him but finally we got to know one another well. He finally realized what he brought on himself. He changed for the better.

This is one of my biggest peeves and it sure felt good to finally tell it.

If you ever get the chance see the movie "The Doctor" with William Hurt. That movie is so true to life about doctors. They should all be forced to watch it. It is on vhs and dvd.
