My patient had just finished her round of chemo. Her doctor was making rounds on the floor and he went into her room. She told him that she would not live much longer. He said " Let me be the judge of that" She told him that she would be dead by morning. He told her to quit talking such nonsense. He then walked out of the room to finish his rounds. Much to his surprise, she died early the next morning.

I was taking care of a sweet old gentleman. He had cancer for such a long time. One day he told me that he knew when he would die. I, of course, asked him when. He said that the next time it snows he would die. "Whew" I thought, it is only the middle of July. I thought no more about it until a few days later. His call light came on. I asked him if I could help him. He said "No but just look at the snow falling outside" I said you are a little bit confused aren't you? This is July. He closed his eyes and smiled. He passed quietly with a smile on his face.
Some know and some never accept it. This patient was ready. The snow was real to him even tho I could not see it.
