SCALLOPED OYSTERS #1

3 cups cracker crumbs, coarsely rolled
3 dozen oysters, drained
¼ cup oyster liquor
1½ cups milk or heavy cream
1/3 to ¾ cup butter
1 tsp salt
Pinch pepper
2 eggs, beaten

Grease 2 quart casserole. Alternate layers of crumbs and oysters. Combine milk, butter and seasonings, scald. Cool and add eggs. Pour mixture over layered oysters and crumbs. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
