Working in a hospital can be hilarious and sad.
One day a patient was being discharged to go home after a lengthy stay in the hospital. Part of our duties was to help the patient with packing and getting their belongings to take down to their car. I emptied the drawers of her underwear, gowns, etc and put them in plastic belonging bags. She asked if there was a cart that she could use to help with taking the bigger items to the car. Bigger items? Now what was she talking about? I packed her clothes, personel items etc what else was there to pack.

I had not opened her closet yet. Lo and behold in the closet was a stack of newspapers almost to the ceiling and magazines too. All of the papers and books were old. Under the papers was something totally unexpected to find that a patient would bring from home.......a portable sewing machine.

I asked her why all of this stuff? She said " I was told to bring something to help me pass the time away if I got bored. I brought my newspapers, magazines, material to sew with and my machine." She then said " I was just too sick to do any of it" Now I have heard and seen it all. ( I think.) Needless to say it took more that 3 trips to the car to take down her belongings.
