Proud of our Soldiers

I had read this before Vel, but still always nice to read. I remember WW2 and how proud everyone felt of their servicemen and women, and the welcome they received when the war was over. Then the Korean War, no big fanfare but the people were behind them 100%. Then the Viet Nam war, the beginning of all the protest, speeches against the country, and I as an American with a son, and a nephew in Viet Nam was ashamed of all the goings on in this country.

Movie Stars leading in protests, all the activists groups started preaching their thoughts. No parades for those servicemen, in some parts of the country they were spat at, and treated like criminals. this was a different kind of war. They were fighting in jungles, and loosing their lives to take a hill. No big fronts. Some of boys would be out in the jungle with a small group of men, sleeping in water to avoid tigers getting their scents. This is a fact.

Now the war we are in is an entirely different kind. Not fighting men, they use terriorist tactics, our men cannot know when a car bomb will explode, I don't think they even know who their enemies are when they mix in with others.,same as it was in Korea, and Viet Nam. the North would sneak into the south, even using children to blow up tents etc. Now all has changed, now seems like some are even blaming our own country for the 9/11. To me we should support our troops, love our country, and do the best we can for our boys and girls, instead of pointing the finger as to what is right or wrong.

One thing I wish, is the tv would stop putting these retired old generals on and getting their opinions, this war is so different than the ones in the past. One thing with WW2, there was no tv, but people kept their lips sealed. Now the news wants every move we make broadcast, and I am sure there are enemies out there listening to some of these people who think they know everything because of who they were. Sorry, this is so long I do get carried away. I for one believe that every serviceman should be honored.
