July 4th
Gosh there are so many fond memories of July 4th. One of my older sisters was born on this day, so we always had a birthday celebration for her. My Mom named her Marie, Martha. Our last name was Morrow, I always liked her monogram. When we were very young, we would go to the local parade, then to the VFW with my Mom and Dad, they always had free hot dogs and sodas for all the kids.

Then when I was a teenager, I was a Captain of the Color Guard of our local drum and bugle corp, that was always fun. During that period, it was war time so always lots of Army, Navy & Coast Guard in our local parades. Lots of training camps in our area and they were always invited to participate in the parades. After the parade, everyone went to the fire house where they had lots of food, sodas and of course if you were old enough, they always had cold beer on tap. haha.

After my Dad retired from the police they stopped the July 4th parades, things just changed, so then it was family affairs. We always had a celebration at our house, and all the neighbors came, along with our families. So much fun, dancing especially. Did this even long after my husband and I divorced. Anyway, after I sold my home, and moved in with my daughter, the kids took over with family parties, up until today, they all went their separate ways, to other BBQ's, although my daughter Linda is having a big party at her home. She is very active in town with different organizations and she invites all her different friends. I know it will be nice, but not my kind of party, haha, too many young people for me.

My son lives in Cape May and with the traffic and influx of thousands of people, it is really not the place to drive too. You see, one thing about New Jersey, the whole coast is on the Atlantic Ocean and most of the towns along the coast are summer resorts. also there are 3 seperate groups of islands and all of these have beautiful beaches also. Thousands and thousands of people come to these resorts from Pa, and NY. plus all the snowbirds that go to Fla, in the winter come back and stay for the summer or just for the day. There is so much congestion, the locals stay home and enjoy their families. and now our local bridge is out and not even my kids venture over here, which would take about 10 min, tops to get here but took my daughter 40 minutes yesterday moving bumper to bumper. I would not want anyone to come over here just to go to a party, I have had my share, and traveled that road, I will watch the fireworks in Phildadelphia,, New York, or Washington D.C. on television. They are fabulous, and I love the music. OOOPS, too long again. Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.
Hugs to All.
