Nice to get back on. had same trouble as Troy, today is much better. As
to childhood games, it was according to age. I was lucky to live on the
same street as the school. Only 3 houses and lots of open fields. We
played all the games you gals have mentioned plus we had the whole
school area to roller skate, The girls side and the boys side were
cemented plus the walkway to the front with a huge area there. there
were always lots of kids from the whole town. In the winter the steps to
the front of the school would freeze and we would sled down the steps
(about 15) and could go all the way down and cross the street. It was
really fun, In the summer we would walk to the beach and swim every day,
then in the evening would go back down to the beach and play tennis,
when I was about 12 to 16. I loved swimming, bike riding, roller
skating, and dancing. In winter when I was that age I played basketball
on a team that belonged to a county league and we played 4 nights a
week, boys rules too. haha. we won the championship 3 years in a row,
There were 8 teams from other towns. When I was 14 I went to work in the
summer in Atlantic City on the boardwalk. That was a great time in my
life, dancing on Steel Pier every night to the big bands, Glen Miller,
Tommy Dorsey etc. after work. then catch a trolly home. I loved sports
of all kinds in high school but not basketball, cause we had to play
girl's rules then and I was used to playing boys rules at night.Wow, I
am writing a history and I could go on and on. Guess I did all the same
things as all other kids did. Oh the memories. Thanks. |
