A New Beginning...
PRESENTING
MR. AND MRS. HARRY S. TRUMAN

Seven weeks after returning home, on June 28, 1919,

Harry and Bess were finally married in a little Episcopal church in Independence, Missouri.
Harry was 35 years old. It had been 29 years since he first met Bess, and 8 years since he proposed. He had never dated another woman.
One of the men from Battery D said, "I hope you have the same success in this new war as you had in the old one."
After the honeymoon, the newlyweds moved into the Wallace house.

Mrs. Wallace was a hard person to get along with,

but Harry knew Bess felt responsible for her mother. She assured Harry it would be temporary, but they would live with her for the next 15 years.
