Harry became President of the United States on April 12, 1945. He received a call to come to the White House. He thought he was going to see the President, but at 5:25 p.m. Mrs. Roosevelt told him the President was dead. Upon hearing this, he asked the first lady if there was anything he could do for her. Mrs. Roosevelt replied, "Is there anything we can do for you?...for you are the one in trouble now."
