MY TREASURE CHEST

I have a trunk I call my Treasure Chest
Small things as souviners I love the best
It is kept in another room alone
Where those treasures belong

Not often do I ever open my trunk to see
Or remember the friends and things that were given to me

But there are times when current events seem to get all wrong
I retreat to the room with no one along
There I open my trunk and see
First a little angel my Sister gave me

There is that framed photo of a friend
I wondered where it could have been
I take my Mother's white Bible tied with a bow
Hold it to my heart and remember what it would hold

I had given it to her on a Mother's day
Just a few years before she passed away

Then, something brown and fuzzy caught my eye
As I took it in my arms I began to cry

These were the first tears I had shed
Recalling how my soul had screamed-she is not dead

It belonged to my tiny companion, a little Shih Tzu doggie, her fur black as coal
I got her when she was only three months old

Many things I taught her some people would not believe
Until they entered our home and her little teddy bear they would receive

Some one gave her another beautiful bear with a bow, tie and fuzzy hair

I placed it where all could see, but for some reason for it she did not care

On that horrible day when the two of us had to part
Due to her age, of fourteen years and her little worn out heart
I finally had to realize what I had read in God's Holy Book one time
HE had Blessed me with her while on earth, she was only mine

HE had loaned her to me each day she was in my care
Now she is in the Heaven God made for doggies as her there

When the day I join her and God calls me to my Heavenly Home Above
Her teddy bear will be left in my Treasure Chest
She will not need or want it in our NEW Home of Love

I will seldon, if ever open my trunk again since they are things of the past
I took a mental inventory and found all items were from friends now gone and my companion's teddy bear embed in my memory now would last

When I meet My Master with all my friends we all will see
His face of Beauty, Compassion, Grace and LOVE and our Home in Heaven, we will be !!!!.
