BASICS OF THE GAME

You've probably seen the table with numbers all over it, chips spread all over, and walked away.
The layout and the game can be intiminating, but it is actually easy to learn.
I'll start be explaining the way to play to lower the casino's advantage.
Then later, just for fun, I'll explain some of the other bets.
The game is begun when the dealer announces that the "come out" roll, or "we're coming out" is about to start.
The Pass Line, Don't Pass Line, come, and Don't Come, are the only areas of the table you will place bets on to decrease the casino's advantage.
Betting on the Pass Line means you are betting on the "shooter" (the person rolling the dice) to win.
Betting on the Don't Pass Line mwans you are betting that the shooter will lose.

PLACING BETS

If you have a bet in the Pass Line and the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the "come out" roll you win your bet.
If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 (called "craps") on the "come out" roll you lose your bet.
You will see players tossing the dealers chips and saying "C & E" just before the "come out" roll.
This means they are betting the shooter will roll an 11 E (Eleven) or a 2, 3, or 12 C (craps) on the "come out" roll.
They are hoping for an 11 and protecting their Pass Line bet.
If the shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12 the lose the Pass Line bet, but win the C (craps) bet.
If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 on the "come out" roll that is called the "Point".
You will see the dealer mark the point by placing a round puck on the "Point" number. The puck will have the word "ON" displayed. If the game has not began you will see the puck placed to the side with the word "OFF" displayed on it.

The shooter now continues to roll the dice until one of two thing happens.
1 The shooter rolls his/her "point" number before rolling a seven (7).
If this happens you win the Pass Line bet.
The same person continues to shoot and a new game is begun.
2 The shooter rolls a seven (7) before rolling the point number.
If this happens you lose the Pass Line bet.
And the next person in line at the table will become the new shooter and a new game will begin.

Scroll down to the ODDS explaination and be sure you understand everything about pass line bets and odds before going on to the "Don't Pas Line" explaination.

Now think opposite of the above explaination.
That's an easy way to understand the "Don't Pass" bet.
If you bet in the "Don't Pass" and the shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the "come out" roll you lose because you are now betting against the shooter.
If he/she rolls a 2, 3, 12 you win because you are betting against the shooter.
Because casinos are operated by such nice people they like to find ways to get an advantage over you.
So you will see "Bar 12" or "Bar 2" marked in the Don't Pass area.
This means they will not pay if you have a bet in theDon't Pass Line and the shooter rolls either a 12 or 2.
If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 that is the "Point"
If the shooter rolls his/her point number before rolling a seven (7 you lose the Don't Pass bet.
If te shooter rolls a seven (7) before rolling the point number you win the Don't Pass bet.

ODDS

Why take or give odds?
That's how you make money and decrease the casino's advantage.
After the shooter establishes a "Point" number after thw come out roll you place your odds bet.
Place your odds bet behind your Pass Line bet.

If you are betting on the Pass Line (betting the shooter will win).

If the point number is
4 or 10   The odds are 2 to 1 and you will win $2 for every $1 you bet on odds.
5 or 9   The odds are 3 to 2 and you win $3 for every $2 you bet on odds.
6 or 8   The odds are 6 to 5 and you win $6 for every $5 you bet on odds.

If you are betting on the Don't Pass Line (betting the shooter will lose). On this bet you will have to "give" the odds instead of "taking" the odds when you bet on the Pass Line.

If the point number is
4 or 10   You must bet $2 to win $1.
5 or 9   You must bet $3 to win $2.
6 or 8   You must bet $6 to win $5.

That sounds like a bad bet, right?
Having to bet more than you will win.
Well, remember this;
There are more ways to roll a seven (7) on a pair of dice than any other number.
Did you notice the big payoffs for 4 and 10?
They are the hardest to roll.
5 and 9 the next easiest, and 6 and 8 the next easiest.

COME & DON'T COME BETS

The Come and Don't Come bets are exactly the same as the Pass (='s the Come bet) and Don't Pass (='s the don't come bet).
The difference is that Come and Don't Come can be bet after the game has begun and the shooter has established a "Point".
You may want to be Come and Don't Come more than once in an attempt to have more bets and maybe win more.
Remember, always take the odds if your Come bet is moved to a number, and give the odds if your Don't Come bet is moved to a number.
