HURRICANE KATRINA - AUGUST, 29 2005

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, middle of tornado alley, as were my four children. We all have a great respect for mother nature when she gets all riled up. My brother and I have chased a few tornados in our time and they can be awesome. But never have I seen anything like what is in these photographs. They are beautiful, awesomely breathtaking, scary and deadly. They were taken before Katrina hit New Orleans. I can't imagine just waiting for it to rampage over me. I would have set out walking as fast as my old crippled legs would carry me with my old Ladydog tied to my waist. Any distance would have to be an improvement. Nor in my wildest thoughts would I consider returning for a second chance to do it over again. Those who have and will continue to do so have stronger hearts than I.

I do not know who the photographer is as I recieved the photos from a friend in England and they had been forwarded many times. They did a fabulous job and I would be delighted to give them the credit they deserve for such wonderful work.

Best veiwed for full effect with full screen mode on computers. (the F11 key on the keyboard.. hit it again to restore your toolbar.)

I recieved this e-mail from my daughter as Hurricane RITA
was passing over the Florida Keys in responce to my inquiry
if they were going to have to evacuate again.
She lives in St. Charles Parish.
