1992 - 1993:
Rinat moved from Israel and met Steve Ripley in Boston,MA. while both
were attending Berklee College of music. From there they moved to Los
Angeles and in between partying they formed Yeah Right. With drummer
Paul Falcone, Yeah Right went into Stinky Foot studios to record a 3
song demo.
1996:
Yeah Right released "Freak", their first full length cd, independently.
With Mike Newberry replacing Paul Falcone on drums, Yeah Right set out
to support this amazing cd. Those who have experienced "Freak" have
said it's simply, "F**king awsome!" This cd received lots of great
reviews in Hit Parader, Burrn, Ball Buster, and many other magazines
and fanzines. Domestically and overseas, the band sold over 3000 cd's
in music stores, at live shows, and Yeah Right's fan club and website.
Songs from "Freak" have been played on over 300 radio stations world
wide. To summarize, "Freak" was the best amalgam of the evolving Yeah
Right machine ... but now it's time for "New Era."
1998-2001:
Leaving Los Angeles and Mike Newberry behind, Yeah Right moved to where
Steve Ripley grew up ... the Quad Cities. While in the studio for their
second cd titled "New Era", the band met drummer Bryan West. This much
is clear, "New Era" is the best work that the power trio has ever done.
The music is very colorful with amazing diversity and honesty, all
without sacrificing it's powerful edges, their songs resemble life.
Rinat's lyrics manage to cover serious topics that are truly
captivating. Her voice is inviting and tempting you into the world of
Yeah Right. And once you are there it's hard to leave. Rinat anchors
her message down with her one of a kind gut wrenching bass sound and
perfectly interlaced bass lines. It is also evident on "New Era" that
Steve Ripley's guitar playing is not limited to any one style. In the
present world of below par guitarists', Ripley is a fresh change ... a
ray of light that will penetrate the stagnant current guitar
world. "New Era" is fresh, focused, exciting and is the next logical
step for Yeah Right. With their horizons expanded, as the fallout of a
decaying metal scene, they are the future of heavy metal ... yeah
right.
2000 - August 2002:
By this time, the band made a lot of noise locally and regionally
opening for national acts and headlining their own shows. The band was
added to the playlist of numerous college, active rock, and internet
radio stations and received many great reviews for "New Era." In 2001
it was discovered that the name Yeah Right was already being used by
another band. So it was decided the a name change would be needed.
Rechristened as Alone, this trio stayed busy by playing live shows and
recording new material. In an effort to help expand their sound and
stage presence, Alone added keyboardist Joe Roman to their live shows.
Joe's stay in the band was brief, as he left to persure other musical
interests. But Rinat, Steve and Bryan continued foward and released a 6
song disc which featured some long awaited new material.
Late 2002:
Many fans began to wonder what was going on with Alone as the band had
remained silent for some time. No news, no updates on their official
site and the lack of new shows began the rumour mill turning that
perhaps Alone was no longer. It was finally revealved that Alone played
their last show in New York at the infamous CBGB's. As it turned out,
this was a showcase for Alone for a number of record lable exec's. How
ironic it is that this event could have saved Alone but in the end it
is what broke them apart. Turmoil in the band and not being able to
land a record deal, Alone decided to call it quits. Rinat headed back
to Yeah Right's birth place (L.A.) to continue as a solo artisit. Bryan
West still performs with a number of bands in the Quad Cities area and
has also written a book on drumming techniques. Steve Ripley remains
M.I.A. and has not been heard from since ...
