Obituary for Orrel Handy Frost

CAPE NEDDICK, Maine - Orrel Handy Frost, 72, of 4 Ledge View Lane, died on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004, at York Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 4, 1931, in Holden, Mass., the daughter of Howard C. Sr. and Viola (Allen) Handy. She was a member of the Class of 1949 of Athol High School and completed her education at finishing school in London.

Mrs. Frost attended Tufts University. After raising her family, she returned to college and graduated Phi Kappa Phi in 1980 from the University of Maryland, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in English literature.

She had lived in Rockville, Md., for 20 years and resided in Kirksville, Mo., for 10 years before moving to Cape Neddick in 1995. She also lived in Hong Kong and Australia for several years.

Mrs. Frost was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Portsmouth, N.H. She was also a member of Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the National Honor Society.

She was active in the communities where she lived. She was a volunteer teacher of the Literary Program and the After-School Program in Kirksville, Mo. She traveled to China and taught English as a second language in Shanghai, China, and at the Chinese Army General Staff College in Luoyang. She was most recently a volunteer at Coastal Ridge Elementary School in York.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles C. Frost of Cape Neddick; one son, Derek H. Revilock-Frost of Williamsburg, Va.; two daughters, Pamela G. Clark of Cape Neddick and Stephanie V. Chamberlain of Saco; one brother, Howard C. Handy II of Long Neck, Del.; and six grandchildren, Chelsea, Matthew and Ethan Harvey, and Jeremy Ruth Revilock-Frost, Colleen Clark and Alexis Frederick-Frost and his wife, Kristen.

Private services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Asher Student Foundation, P.O. Box 491296, Los Angeles, CA 90049-9296; or to a favorite animal shelter. Arrangements are by the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, York.
