By Becky Murdock - August 21, 2000 WOW!!!! What a great time we had! All the way to the airport, all of us couldn’t stop sharing everything that happened. Meredith and the kids never went to bed, so they were extremely tired, but that didn"t stop the storytelling. We saw a lot of great people...the ones that stand out to me are: 1. Clyde Howlett - who I couldn’t believe was 91 years young. First thing he did was clarify there would be dancing. I assured him there would be. He asked if I would dance one with him, I told him I would be honored. He said he wore his sneakers so he could take them off quickly, for he would be dancing in his socks. That man has more energy than most young people. He was out there dancing with a full dance card. I heard someone comment to him that he was going to get holes in his socks from all the dancing. He grinned a devilish grin and said "so what"!!! What an unforgettable person Clyde Howlett is to me. Next, was Lorraine and Art Murdock. They were so easy to talk to. Everywhere I looked, Art was there helping out. What a great pair they make!!!! Then there was Viki Blakley... So down to earth. I think if we lived closer, we would be great fast friends. It was great to finally meet Nic and Jason Murdock- my nephews. What very nice and caring young men they are. We hope to see them more often. And Jerod Davidson, my nephew who I think gave the greatest testimonial of all. We have watched him grow from a sweet, good natured boy, into the same kind of man. Val got blessed to have such a good son. Speaking of Val, what a great job she did with everything. Making those memory books, that I'm so looking forward to sitting down and reading. She takes charge and gets the job done. At first we thought this 50th party to be impossible to do from 3000 miles away. But she wouldn’t give up and did a great job. I always have looked up to her, now even more so. Then there was Darrel or should I say Uncle Darrel. Who was so concerned about everyone being fed properly, never got a chance to sit down and enjoy himself. What a guy!!! Not many people would be that unselfish. Then I must mention my husband Ian, who was a great MC. Who I saw step up to the plate and direct the evening. I was very proud of him, for I know that is not his sort of thing. Great job!!! And Meredith, who was willing to help out with whatever was needed to do. I know she got the least amount of sleep because the kids were in her room. But she never complained once. And to my children, Natalie and Timothy I'm very proud. Natalie who made sure everyone was signed in, and Timothy who helped me decorate. I say thank you!!!! Last but not least, I would like to say to you two, thank you for all that you have done for us. You are there always even though we live so far apart. You have embraced me into this family, from which I have meet so many great people. And hearing the testimonials from others, you have enriched a lot of lives. So here's to 50 more!!!!
