(Lamoureaux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home) GARDNER — Penny Salminen, 49, of Gardner, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at her home after an illness. Penny was born in Gardner August 31, 1963, daughter of Dorothy (Murdock) Salminen and the late Sulo Salminen. Penny worked for Dunkin Donuts for many years prior to her illness. She enjoyed singing and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. She enjoyed animals, and watching old TV shows. Family was most important to Penny, she really enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, Penny will be sadly missed by her brother, Randy Salminen and his wife Gloria of Gardner; three sisters, Viki Blakley and her significant other Paul Kenney of Chelmsford, Teddie J. Doane and her husband William of Hubbardston, and Sally Bacon and her husband Ernie of Weedsport, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. Penny was predeceased by her sister, Wanda Schindo. Relatives and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Penny’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Lamoureux Fletcher and Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations in Penny's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
