Chapter 23

September 5, 2002

Yesterday we had a great time. Vel picked me up around 1 PM and we decided to go to the OC boardwalk and people watch.. It was a beautiful day, lots of sunshine and warm but not too much humidity. We found a parking lot right at the boardwalk and it only cost $5.00 with no time limit. That was good, cause we never know what we are going to do next. Ocean City is about 3 miles from where I live but we drove about 22 blocks north, so we could be where the shops and people were. The ocean was so calm and there were a lot of sailboats out there. What a gorgeous site to just sit there and look out over to the horizon. Saw lots of people, haha, Most of them were, or looked older than me, haha, kidding of course, we decided they had to be on a bus trip cause they were all congregating where we were sitting. One thing for sure everyone dresses for comfort today, which is a good thing. We were saying how it was back in the 60-'s. Sure were not allowed to be on the boardwalk in a bathing suit or bare feet. and the men had to wear tops too. In the evening, no shorts were allowed and the men had to wear jackets. How times have changed.First we sat on a bench closeer to the ocean and just enjoyed the fresh air and enjoyng the view, then got hungry so went to a famous Pizza place (in this area) Maco Mangos, their pizza is really good. That is the only thing they sell, no other food, so we just had to have it. <>. We stayed on the boardwalk til around 4, then came home and freshened up as we decided to go to the ball game in Atlantic City. I had never been there and Vel had free passes. It was a beautiful evening, cool , and just looking out over the skyline of the city with all the casino lights made the game all the more interesting. AC won 11-1 against a Pennsylvania team. AC is in first place for the division. The stadium is really great, not real big, but all the conveniences. We had great seats, Vel told them we did not want to climb stairs. haha. We took the elevator to I guess the main floor. That is where the refreshment stands and the bathrooms were, That was a good thing. We just had to walk over to our seats. We met a nurse we had worked with along with her daughter, also we met Vel's granddaughter and her friend George, and we met a couple of men from Somers Point whose sister I had went to school with and I knew his whole family. I sort of remember him. It was great to meet some old friends. Anyway we had a wonderful time. All that fresh air was just what the doctor ordered. Didn't get home til around 10pm. or a little later. Haven't been out that late in a long time, but it sure was worth it. Oh yea, We ate supper there. Had a JUMBO HOTDOG, along with tacos and dip, and soda. It was so good, Nothing like a hot dog at a baseball game. Plan on attending again in the near future, Not that many games left.for this season. All in all we had a delightful day. No dead ends, or private property signs or even driving on roads that lead to nowhere, but something different for us. Good thing we both love baseball.!! Will talk to ya all down the road soon.
