Chapter 24
October 2, 2002
Had Lynda (a grannie) and her husband Skip here for couple of days.
They arrived on Monday morning and I had to have a very bad cold. Vel
came over and took them out on a tour of the area, over to Ocean City on
the boardwalk, then to Atlantic City to view the Casinios, then dinner.
They got home around 7:30pm. I felt a little better by then, so we had
pie and coffee and just talked and talked and I showed them pics of our
Branson reunion. We had met in Buffalo, Binghamton and Clyde, so we had
a lot of memories. Yesterday Vel came over and we took off around 10am.
Went on one of our jaunts, over by the Deleware river and just looked at
things. then headed back toward Cape May to see where the Ferry leaves
for Deleware. It is a great place to visit. Went to the Coast Guard
Museum, lots of interesting things to look at. then we went to the
Lighthouse, got out and viewed the ocean and just looked around, We did
go to the very end of Cape May where the Ocean and the Deleware Bay
meet, stopped by to see my son, as I wanted him to meet them, stayed
there a little bit, then headed home. This is not in the right order but
gives you an idea of what we did. We had dinner at a restaurant called
the Railroad Station. It was a former railroad station for the old
Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Line of many years ago. Neat place, Food
was good and of course the company was the best. We had a lot of laughs.
We arrived home around 8pm, and Vel stayed til around 10:30pm. It was a
wonderful day. We all turned in around 11 or so, as they wanted to
leave as early as we could get moving. They were up when I finally moved
around 8am. We really loved having them and I now feel like I dreamed
it. Sort of lonesome around here now. I think they really enjoyed their
short stay here and I told them the door is always open. I think Skip
had enough of the water scenes. haha. Soooo much ocean and bay areas. I
do hope they will come back again when they are able too. I know a week
vacation does fly by, so much to do, so much to see, and so many friends
to visit, plus house stuff. haha. So we had our own mini-mini reunion
and it was wonderful.
