Chapter 25

October 21, 2003

It is beautiful here in South Jersey. Nice and cool, sun is bright too. Our leaves are just beginning to turn, but doubt there will be any brilliant colors. Not enough rain here.

Vel and I went for a nice ride yesterday to see if there was any pretty areas, No luck. We did travel miles and miles but saw mostly the pine barrens. Bet we went 40 miles before we saw a house. We were also looking to see if there was anyone working in the cranberry bogs, but no life there either.

We missed a big festival in a little town, Chatsworth, they were cleaning up. Have been there when there had to be 10,000 people coming and going. Gets bigger every year. Ya know NJ is known for being one of the largest cranberry states, along with blueberry, peaches and the best tomatoes in the country. Anyway, after several hours of just wandering around the country side we went to a more populated area and we decided to eat at Applebees. nice place and it wasn't that crowded. guess cause it wasn't their dinner hour yet.

We left there and continued on our tour of the back roads. Nothing really exciting went on, no dead ends, no private property signs or do not enter signs either so Vel behaved herself. It is a little hard on her to manipulate the car on u-turns etc. and I haven't driven since I smashed up my car. Have to get back on the road.

I feel fine and all my tests were negative. So really see no reason not to. I am still alert haha. Hoping we can get a little more adventurous before it gets bad weather. Of course cold is ok, just not ice or snow. Darlene, it is always sad when you see lakes and streams almost dried up. Maybe we will have more rain later on.
