Old Time Racin'

From the beginnings of the automobile era
men have wanted to race.

First the Model T's, then the fast little coupes,
to today's aerodynamic wonders,
racin' has become a tradition that rivals few.

Stock-car racing evolved from the bootleggers
and wild and crazy men driving too fast,
trying to outrun the law on dirt roads at midnight,
from the backroads mechanics,
from the daredevils of sleepy little southern towns.
It came from bravado, and swaggering heroes,
yelling like rebels, daring someone to stop them,
always looking for their place in the sun.

Racin' is a grand tradition,
and the asphalt and concrete banked ovals of today
don't much resemble the tracks of old.

Uhhh is that too tight or too loose
goin into that corner?!
