Chapter 19
December 19, 2001 John Edwards
We went to see John Edward at the Taj Malha in Atlantic City on Friday
night. Vel surprised me with the tickets a few weeks back. I was so
excited. Don't know if anyone watches him on TV, he is a medium (?). and
brings people thru who have Crossed Over. He is awesome. Really never
believed in that kind of thing, but this man has made me a believer. He
tells people things that only they would know. He is on CBS at 9am. here
in Jersey. Anyway to get to our evening out, we left Vel's house around
4:30 pm. The show was called for 6:30pm, we got to the casino around
5PM. It is a beautful place so many bright lights, mirrors etc, too hard
to describe. We asked a guard where the theater was and of course it had
to be on the other side of the casino floor. What a long walk, had to
sit down half way there. Haha, hell to get old, Vel with her back and me
well as I told Vel going over, everything hurt. knee, back etc. I know
you don't want to hear this shut so after we got near where the show
would be we sat down at the slots. I only had about 15 quarters, and Vel
had a few, we played for about 40 minutes, I think Vel said she put in a
couple of $5's too. I know I won at least $60. and Vel hit for some, one
time it was $25, didn't pay that much attention, We of course played it
back, but it was fun, at least we hit. I felt good, playing with their
money. Now it was time to go up the escalator to th showroom. Wow what a
big theater. When we got inside it was about 5:45pm. Show time was 6:30.
The seats were regular chairs, with sort of an orange color leather but
we were packed like sardines. Vel sort of moved the chairs a little
toward the isle so we could breathe. Haha, We were the 4 & 5th seats in
from the isle. Well let me tell you, I never realized how many people
were aware of JE. In no time at all the place was full, I would say
there were at least 6+ thousand people there. It was soooo big. The
seats were sort of situated like a fan on each level. With the least
amount down front working to the top. It was great and everyone could
see. but John could not see the people in the back, It was lit up in the
front areas but got darker toward the back. First off his producer Doug
came out on stage. and made the introduction. He was really funny and
made a few jokes. He was a little guy,, not bad looking, but terrific
personality. Then he brought John out and what a thunderous applause he
got. He is nice looking, just like on TV, the only difference was he had
glasses on. Looked like those little granny glasses. Cute. He of couse
did the same as he does on tv. The introducing of himself, rubbing his
hands etc.The he said that usually on an appearance he will give a
lecture, then take questions, an intermission and then do some readings.
(which we did not get, haha), but last night he did away with the
lecture, the intermission and he would do some readings, then we could
ask questions and more readings. He said on tv he has to stand on that
little stage, but normally he moves about and does a lot of pacing
because of all the energy he uses, and I have to say, he does not stand
still one minute, he starts walking up and down the stage even when
reading someone. The first thing he did was have the audience put their
feet flat on the floor, turn your palms up, close your eyes and he
talked in a low voice, about picturing yourself far away standing on a
mountain, looking into a white cloud and talking to whomever you would
like to come thru. This took several minutes. Very relaxing. then there
was a hush that went over the audience and he rubbed his hands and said
he was ready to begin. He is really funny and does use some different
language than on tv. seems like "friggin" is one of his pet words. He
did read quite a few people, My gosh he had to work so hard with some of
them. Duh!!!!. This one woman was a total blank, she would say no and he
would say yes. You know how he does, and he could not get away from the
person on the other side, so he had to finish with her. He made the
audience laugh when he said something about why did she have to be the
first one? haha. Her dad was very loud. Anyway, he finally started the
questions, which was interesting, but right in the middle someone else
came through and he had to tell the lady to hold on to her question and
he would be back, Someone came through by the name of George to a person
way on the opposite side of the theater. It was a great show, but I will
be here all day if I go into anymore detail. All I know is you don't
want it to stop. There were just so many people. But, after a 2 1/2 hour
show, you butt is numb from sitting on those hard chairs. I think he was
surprised by the turnout, cause some woman said last year when he came
you could sit anywhere you wanted too and it was not crowded like last
night. She saw him then too. Guess TV has helped a lot. He said he has a
list of readings to do that right now he is only working on that. and
when he gets done with that he will start a new one. Probably years. All
in all we both enjoyed it. After the show we were sort of hungry so we
went to two restaurants there and of course there were lines. Forget
that. Everything is so far apart, so we said hell with this, we left.
Started to go one way, missed the turn, decided to go down to Margate
and take bridge to mainland, Northfield, and go to a restaurant ther,
Haha, missed that turn off, cause we were one street over. I mentioned
it to Vel, that we could go over to the next street but she said it
wasn't cut all the way through and we would have to zig zag, haha, who
am I to argue that point, I hadn't been over there for a long time so
figure I was wrong, anyway, ended up going over Longport bridge to
Somers Point, We passed a couple of nice places, but decided to go to a
place closer to Vel's, in Bargaintown called Brownies, good food and we
could have a drink there. Haha, way to crowded for us, and figured it
was young peoples night out. Anyway we went on back up to Northfield to
a steak house. Not many cars, and when we went in, found out they close
in 20 minutes. The said it was fine we c ould be served and have plenty
of time. We sat down, no one around us. Couple of people left, and Vel
said. "no one here except us and those 2 girls at the bar. I said they
were probably waiting for the bartender to get done work. Vel had a
bloody mary , and I had a rita , really good, We both had a hamburger with
bacon and Montery cheese. also I had cup of soup and Vel had a salad.
Very good food. We were just about finished when Vel said "I must be
cracking up, Those 2 girls are not girls, (I couldn't see without
turning around) Lo and behold , they were round shaped cactus plants.
Did we get a laugh out of that. See I told you last week that I thought
Vel was loosing it. Hahaha, now we know. it was sort of dark in that
area, and when I looked, I could see why she thought that. Oh boy,
getting to the point that we best not be left alone to go out late at
night. Haha, Well we left there and went to Vel's so I could pick up my
car. I got home around 12 midnight. We had a great evening, but decided
the casinos were not for us. Too glitsy, and too much walking. Although
JE, was well worth the trip. If you ever get chance to see him. be sure
to go. He was great. Now have to get moving here. Hope all you gals have
a nice day. I am going to decorate my tree and clean up the mess. ttyl.
Guess this could have been in 2 e-mail. So much space..
