Chapter 16

August 27, 2001

Went for my 6th treatment today. I am doing very well. BP is now averaging 118/70 to 125/74. That is a big drop when it was always 160/80 to 200/100, sometimes even higher, even with medications. Of course have had hypertension since I was 20 years old, and I think I have taken every kinds of med on the market. Anyway. I will be getting more blood work after my 8th tx. I think I told you all that my blood work is all within normal range, except I am a little anemic and the uric acid count was up. That should be down next time. That has to do with gouty arthritis, which I also had 30 years ago. The one problem is they have trouble getting a good vein. Have to get stuck2-3 times before they hit a good one. When we get older this happens a lot, they roll. But still better than being cut. Meeting a lot of nice people getting the treatment. I am surprised so many people know about it. and here I never even heard of it til Albie was in the hospital. Sometimes you wonder why things happen, and I think I was at the right place in order to meet that nurse who told me about it. Never saw her again after that. I feel great, get tired the first night, but I think it is because of the long day. Leave here 9am.and usually the iv takes about 2 hours.

Today Vel went with me and we packed a lunch so we could have a picnic after we left there. What a gorgeous dayit was. Found a beautiful lake about 50 miles from home. All lined with tall cedar trees and it was cedar water. Walked through the wooded path and came to a small bridge, that connected to a little island. Found a nice bench out there so we just sat there for a while observing the beautfy and you could see the beach which actually was the entrance to this public park.

The road run along side of the lake with benches set along side the lake so you had your pick. We chose to drive way back to check out the island. Really neat. Then we walked back to the car, got our cooler and picnic basket and went back to the wooded area, no, not all the way back to the island. Fraid we might loose a couple of ounces. haha, no it was 91 degrees and alittle humid, so settled for the shorter walk. Had quite a few picnic tables placed in different areas. Just an ideal spot for a picnic. We had turkey, ham cheese, chips, pickles, garden fresh tomatoes, potato salad, macaroni salad, bananas, peaches, plums, and rolls. NO we did not eat all of it but it was very good.oh yea and water to drink,. Had soda, but have lost the taste for it. We had a great time. laughing, talking about places we had been and of course our kids and grands. All in all itr was a mighty fine picnic. Nice and peaceful and serene. There were several people here and there, but not crowded. Some people were swimming over on the protected beach, but we opted for the quiet. We had a nice drive home. Oh yea it did get sort of dark and we had some thunder, but no rain, so it didn't scare us away. By the time we left it had cleared up, but then hit a little rain on the way home. Got home a little after 4pm. It was great, Anytime any of you gals come to Jersey and want peace and quiet you can call Vel and I. haha, we would take you on a tour. But we are not into the casino scene, go to the boardwalk about once in the summer find a nice bench facing the ocean and then people watch. LOL. Sorry this is so long, but most of you know me, once I get going, I just keep going on and on. Lots of hugs to all. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
