By Gene Murdock - November, 1996 HALLELUJAH! PRAISE THE LORD! She's gone from earth, our mother dear, The matriarch of our clan; They totalled four score years and ten The days her life did span. For all these years she served us all, Her family, town and church; Without a thought of things for self, Christian charity was her search. No curse nor oath e'er passed her lips No spite nor hatred showed, Just love and care and friendly words To smooth life's rocky road. As Grandma, Mother, Sister, Aunt, She was a model for us all, A friend to all who came within The beckon of her call. Up through troubled years she grew, With Depression, war and strife, But never lost her gentle poise, Nor love of Christian life. During those last few days of life, As she walked her final mile, She kept her ever winning ways, And never lost her smile. She took no drink, nor ate no bread, No waste would she afford; She said, just hours before she died, "Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!" We regret her passing, relish her past, As her soul proceeds on high, And rejoice in thinking as we mourn, There's now one more angel in the sky. --Eugene A. Murdock, second son |
